J Mike Stice
J Mike Stice is president of ConocoPhillips Qatar. Stice began his career with Conoco in 1982. Within the natural gas and gas products organisation, he held management positions in engineering, operations, sales and strategic planning.
Through three overseas assignments, he gained an invaluable understanding of the global energy arena. He served as managing director of Conoco Australia, a Conoco subsidiary in Brisbane, Australia. He was subsequently named president of Conoco Asia Pacific Ltd, based in Singapore.
In 1998, he became president of gas and power marketing, where he was responsible for growing the North American commercial gas and power business into a top-tier performer. He then served as president of ConocoPhillips Qatar. In this assignment, he was responsible for the negotiations and related capital investments to bring 7.8mpta of LNG to the US market.
From there, he served as vice president of global gas, accountable for corporate LNG strategy, developing new LNG markets globally, accessing new LNG supply projects and building regasification terminals where required. Mike recently returned to Qatar as president where he oversees ConocoPhillips's existing investments in Qatar and promotes new business opportunities.
Stice's education credentials include a chemical engineering degree from Oklahoma University, a master's degree in business from Stanford University and an international director's diploma from Queensland University. He is currently pursuing his doctorate degree, in international business, at George Washington University.
