UN Climate Change Conference in December 2009: Copenhagen Accord

The offshore industry is working hard to make its activities more environmentally friendly. Alongside this, global leaders are working to set emissions-cutting targets that can replace the Kyoto Protocol decided in 1997.

In December 2009 leaders gathered at the UN Climate Change Conference and set out the Copenhagen Accord. This is a global agreement setting out the importance of cutting emissions that will form the basis of legal targets that countries around the world will not set themselves.
