MAREX Marine and Safety Services (MAREX) is the trading name of MAREX Marine Services Limited. MAREX was formed in 2000, in response to a requirement for safety case authorship which was introduced under the Cullen Report, following the Piper Alpha platform disaster.
MAREX now comprises a safety and risk department and a marine department. From its harbour side offices in Aberdeen, it coordinates a network and staff of marine safety and survey professionals undertaking projects worldwide for the offshore oil and gas market. In addition to master mariners, safety and marine engineers and naval architects, it draws on the skills of mathematicians, risk specialists and fishing industry experts.
