BP and Reliance to invest $6bn on deepwater gas resources in India

BP and Indian company Reliance Industries (RIL) revealed plans to invest $6bn in three projects to develop deepwater gas resources in offshore India in a bid to increase gas supply to the country. 

The development is expected to bring 1Bcf/d of dry gas production on stream between 2020 and 2022.

The companies plan to award contracts to develop the ‘R-Series’ deepwater gasfields in Block KGD6 off the east coast of India.

Cyberattack hits Russian oil producer Rosneft

State-controlled Russian oil and gas producer Rosneft became another victim of a cyberattack, similar to WannaCry.

More than 80 firms in Russia and Ukraine were estimated to have been initially impacted by the Petya virus, which is spreading from Europe to US, and other parts of the world.

Moscow-based cybersecurity company Group-IB was quoted by Bloomberg as saying that this virus disabled computers and asked users to pay $300 in cryptocurrency in order to have their systems unlocked.

Aker Solutions to supply umbilicals to ENI's Coral South project, offshore Mozambique

Aker Solutions secured a contract to deliver three umbilicals and associated equipment to Eni's Coral South project, an offshore field development in Mozambique. 

The scope of work covers three steel tube umbilicals that will total over 19km in length and link the Coral South floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility to the field's subsea production system.

The umbilicals will be made at Aker Solutions' plant in Moss, Norway, and delivered at the end of 2019.

Eni ships first LNG from Jangkrik field

Italian company Eni shipped the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) produced from Jangkrik field located off the coast of Indonesia. 

The 22,500m³ cargo that left the Bontang Liquefaction Plant in East Kalimantan will be unloaded at Bali under a long-term LNG contract signed with PT Pertamina in June 2015.

Eni started gas production at Jangkrik last month. Gas was processed onboard the FPU 'Jangkrik' and then transported to the Bontang gas liquefaction plant through the East Kalimantan Transportation System.

Statoil gains approval for Njord and Bauge fields in Norwegian Sea

Statoil’s plans for development and operation (PDO) of Njord and Bauge fields in the Norwegian Sea were approved by Norway's Ministry of Petroleum and Energy.

Following approval, Njord A platform and Njord Bravo floating storage and offloading vessel (FSO) will be upgraded to procure the remaining resources available in the Njord and Hyme fields.

Bauge is a new field to be developed and tied to the Njord A platform.

Monadelphous wins $453m contract for Woodside-operated facilities

Monadelphous Group has secured a A$600m ($453m) contract to provide gas asset general maintenance services and brownfields offshore implementation for Woodside-operated production facilities in the region north-west of Western Australia.

The initial duration of the contract is five years with the option of two one-year extensions.

Under the contract, engineering company Monadelphous will be responsible for maintenance, shutdown services and offshore brownfields implementation for Woodside’s Karratha Gas Plant, Pluto LNG, North Rankin Complex, Goodwyn A platform and Angel platform.

EMGS increases investment in Sonardyne's deepwater positioning technology

Norwegian survey company Electromagnetic Geoservices (EMGS) increased its investment in Sonardyne International’s Ranger 2 Gyro-iUSBL technology that can detect the presence of hydrocarbons in deepwater.

Said to be the second system owned by EMGS, the new Ranger 2 Gyro-iUSBL is equipped with acoustic positioning and inertial navigation technologies.

The system will be installed in one of the EMGS’s towed electromagnetic sources, which operate in water depths as great as 4,000m along with electromagnetic receivers to identify hydrocarbon presence through more than 3km of rock.

JFSE launches new MultiROV system for offshore oil and gas sector

Excavation specialist James Fisher Subsea Excavation (JFSE) launched a new mass/controlled flow excavation (M/CFE) MultiROV system for the offshore oil and gas sector.

The MultiROV system provides new levels of controllability and productivity to perform excavation.

JFSE said that the system also reduces the services required from a vessel as it needs no stabilising tuggers or clump weights. 

AkerBP starts plugging work at Valhall field in North Sea

AkerBP started plugging operations at its Valhall field in the North Sea, offshore Norway, as part of a project that involves powering the Maersk Invincible jack-up drilling rig from shore.

Maersk Invincible has been hired for five years and arrived at the Valhall field last month.

For the next few years, the rig will permanently plug a total of 18 wells from the Valhall DP platform.

Amec Foster Wheeler to develop Saudi Aramco’s Marjan oilfield

UK-based company Amec Foster Wheeler won a contract from Saudi Aramco to provide key offshore and onshore field work services at the Marjan oilfield near the eastern province of Saudi Arabia.

Under the five-year contract, Amec Foster Wheeler will provide services including pre-front-end engineering and design (pre-FEED), FEED, and will be responsible for overall programme management.

Support services will be delivered for a further 300,000bpd gas/oil separation train, a gas processing plant, and a cogeneration facility.
