Aker Oilfield Services secures $465m contract from Petrobras

Aker Oilfield Services (AKOFS), a subsidiary of Aker Solutions, secured a $465m contract from Petrobras to provide subsea intervention services offshore Brazil.

Under the five-year contract, AKOFS will deliver services from the Aker Wayfarer vessel.

The contract, which will commence in the fourth quarter of 2016, has an option to extend for five additional years.

The Aker Wayfarer vessel will be equipped at a yard in Norway to become a deep-water subsea equipment support vessel (SESV).

TGS unveils two new ocean bottom seismic projects in US GoM

TGS unveiled the initial two ocean bottom seismic surveys to be undertaken in the US Gulf of Mexico (GoM) under its recently signed collaboration agreement with FairfieldNodal.

The projects include the Calypso full azimuthal nodal (FAN) survey and the Nessie FAN survey.

Located in the Eugene Island protraction area, the Calypso FAN survey will cover 136 shelf blocks.

A long offset full azimuth nodal data will find new reserve potential in the geologically complex area to complement the historical production from Upper and Lower Miocene reservoirs.

Rosneft discovers oil at offshore Arctic well

Rosneft

Rosneft completed drilling at the Universitetskaya-1 well in the Arctic and discovered oil at the East-Prinovozemelskiy-1 licence area in the Kara Sea.

The company said the sea depth at the drilling site is 81m, while the designed depth of the vertical well is 2,113m.

The drilling resulted in obtaining samples of rock, drilling a pilot hole with an 8.5in diameter at a depth of 600m, and collecting horizontal core samples.

Rosneft said it will analyse the data from the well and come to a conclusion on the reserves at the site.

Cairn Energy sells 10% stake in UK Catcher oil field to Dyas

Cairn Energy sold a 10% stake in its Catcher development in the North Sea and nearby fields to Dyas UK for approximately $182m.

Under the deal, Cairn retains a 20% interest in the Catcher licence and will trim down its capital expenses on the project from $380m to $200m.

Cairn Energy CEO Simon Thomson said: "Cairn remains focused on delivering value for shareholders from disciplined capital allocation and portfolio management across a balanced asset base.

"This value-enhancing transaction provides us with significant additional operational flexibility to deliver the group’s strategy."

Semco Maritime secures first orders for three new UK rig projects

Songa

Danish engineering firm Semco Maritime secured first orders for three new rig projects at Invergordon, UK.

The orders are for the equipment and upgrading of two Prospector Drilling jack-up rigs and the Norwegian-operated semisubmersible rig Songa Dee.

Earlier this year, Semco Maritime formed a partnership with the Port of Cromarty Firth to set up a centre for rig upgrades at Invergordon.

Semco Maritime will complete the final installations of the Prospector 5 jack-up drilling rig.

Technip wins contract to develop Kodiak field in Gulf of Mexico

French engineering and construction firm Technip secured a contract from Deep Gulf Energy II to develop the Kodiak field in the Gulf of Mexico.

The field is located in Mississippi Canyon Blocks 727 and 771 at water depths ranging from 1,472m to 1,710m.

The project includes a subsea tie-back to the Devils Tower Truss Spar situated in Mississippi Canyon Block 773.

Technip said the pipeline will be of a bi-metallic construction, lined with corrosion-resistant alloy, enabling it to withstand the field’s high temperature and pressure, as well as corrosive production fluids.

KrisEnergy starts seismic programmes in Sakti PSC, Indonesia

Singapore-based oil and gas firm KrisEnergy commenced seismic programmes in its Sakti production sharing contract (PSC) offshore East Java, Indonesia.

The 1,200km 2D seismic will be undertaken at the Sakti PSC as per the PSC’s work obligations.

KrisEnergy said the S V Nordic Bahari vessel started the acquisition programme, with the survey contract being awarded to Alamjaya Makmur Sejahtera and partner Bahari Lines Indonesia.

Upon completion of the 2D seismic programme, another 400km² of 3D seismic will be acquired.

Four Norway companies join oil spill management project

Eni Norge, Statoil, Gdf Suez E&P Norge, OMV Norge and the Norwegian Coastal Administration partnered with Aptomar on a new industry project to improve oil spill management.

All the parties will work to strengthen technology functionality and communication infrastructure for offshore oil spill detection and management systems.

The joint industry project (JIP), which is expected to be completed by the end of this year, will offer operators with various new functionalities and solutions in tactical oil spill management.

Aptomar will initially develop the functionality to provide remote control of the SECurus system, which the company describes as highly advanced technology, used to detect and combat oil spills.

Tullow Oil to sell Netherlands subsidiary to AU Energy

Tullow Oil agreed to sell its Netherlands subsidiary to AU Energy, a subsidiary of Mercuria Energy, for €62.7m.

The transaction, which is expected to be completed in early 2015, includes Tullow’s operated and non-operated L12 / L15 block interests and non-operated Q4 and Q5 block interests.

The L12 / L15 and Q block portfolio features a suite of seven licence interests and six developed fields producing 1,500 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boepd) net to Tullow.

Global Petroleum unit agrees Namibia licence extension

Global Petroleum’s Namibia subsidiary agreed a 12-month extension on petroleum exploration licence No.29 in the Walvis Basin.

Jupiter Petroleum (Namibia) came to an agreement with the country’s Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) for the extension of the first exploration period.

The licence, which covers 1910B and 2010A blocks in the Walvis Basin, offshore Namibia, will be valid until December 2015.
