Aker Solutions has secured a contract from Maersk Drilling to modify the production module on the Inspirer jack-up rig for the Yme oilfield in offshore Norway.

Valued at around Nkr1bn ($119.61m), the contract requires Aker to provide engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning services.

The work covers operations at Yme oilfield, which was closed in 2001 after five years of production and is now being redeveloped. Yme is operated by Spanish company Repsol.

Aker Solutions executive vice-president and projects delivery centre head Knut Sandvik said: “We look forward to working with Maersk Drilling to ensure a successful and cost-efficient modification of the jack-up rig, which will be used in the new development of the Yme field.

“The company expects to start work on the project immediately, with completion scheduled for the end of 2019.”

“This plays to the strengths of our operations in Norway and our expertise in complex modifications.”
