SBM Offshore has unveiled the first fully qualified and certified offshore LNG transfer system, the Cryogenic Offshore Offloading and Loading (COOL) system.
The system comprises a flexible cryogenic floating LNG hose and connectors for the transfer of LNG between vessels in a tandem moored configuration.
SBM Offshore also completed the qualification for the manufacturing of the COOL hose.
The COOL system allows LNG offloading in a similar way to that from a floating LNG production vessel to an LNG carrier.
The system can also be used to import LNG onto a floating LNG storage and re-gasification unit.
With the system, FLNG projects in harsher locations can be considered without excessive downtime due to offloading system availability and reduced risk.
