Iran, India and Pakistan Prepare Tri-Nation Gas Line

12 June 2007 15:33

India, Pakistan and Iran are expected to meet next month to discuss plans for a tri-nation gas pipeline, worth more than $7bn according to a report by The Times of India on 11 June.

The Times quotes India's petroleum secretary MS Srinivasan as saying India and Pakistan are due to meet 'shortly' to discuss a transportation tariff and transit fee, which will create the basis for a ministerial framework agreement.

The deal will help Iran sell gas to the Iran Pakistan border and to India using the 2,300km pipeline it says will carry about 60 million cubic meters of gas a day.
