Shell Repairs Nigerian Pipeline15 June 2007 10:53 Repairs to a Nigerian oil pipeline – which forced Shell to cut output by 77,000bpd last month – went underway on 11 June. The leak occurred in May on the Nembe pipeline in Nigeria's southern state of Bayelsa, which feeds Nigeria's Bonny export terminal. Shell, which is Nigeria's largest producer, has since been in talks with community members to get access to the site. The company, which would not comment on what caused the leak, was unable to predict when production would resume through the pipeline. Oil companies have detailed about 772,000bpd of shut Nigerian production because of militant attacks and sabotage. » Email this link to a friend |
