Barabados Opens Waters for Exploration

Oil exploration in Barbados's territorial waters is open to tender, officials announced last week.

The offshore bid round is designed to divide the offshore concessions into blocks within the potential hydrocarbon-bearing regions around Barbados to provide oil companies with an opportunity to bid on areas which they believe may be of commercial importance to hydrocarbon exploration.

An international launch is planned in the US at the Hilton Post Oak in Houston, Texas, on 27 June this year.

20 open blocks located on the shelf and in deepwater areas in the north-east Caribbean deformed belt have been offered in the bid round.
