Gazprom and Eni Announce New Pipeline Plans

25 June 2007 17:22

Russian oil company Gazprom and Italy's Eni have unveiled plans for a new pipeline to take Russian gas under the Black Sea to Europe, undermining an earlier plan to extend a Turkish route.

The 900km pipeline will come ashore in Bulgaria before branching to Austria and Slovenia and then through to southern Italy.

Gazprom say the cost of the project and the distribution of stakes among the partners will be decided after a feasibility study, currently being carried out in Italy. Other details have yet to be finalised.
