BP Repair CATS Pipeline30 July 2007 16:53 BP expects work will recommence on its Central Area Transmission System (CATS) pipeline, which exports gas from fields in the central North Sea to terminals at Teesside in the UK, after an accident damaged the pipe on 27 June. The pipeline, which has affected UK North Sea gas output with a reduced 30 million cubic metres of gas a day (figure taken from month of March), was shut after a large vessel dragged its anchor over the pipe, damaging its protective coating. A metal sleeve will now be installed to strengthen and protect the affected area. Report by staff writer » Email this link to a friend |
