Iran to Transport Gas to Europe20 August 2007 14:52 Iran will export 35 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe via Turkey every year, according to the Iranian Oil Ministry. As defined by the South Pars gas deal between Iran and Turkey, the next phase of pipeline development will be undertaken to transport the gas, according to caretaker of the Iranian Oil Ministry Gholam-Hossein Nozari. The Iran-Turkey agreement includes the formation of a joint company in charge of handling a project for laying pipeline for the transfer of gas from Assalouyeh (Bushehr province) in Iran to Europe. Meanwhile, sacked Iranian Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh has predicted a looming 'catastrophe' in the Iranian energy sector because of high consumption, according to local news sources. "If we do not find a solution to the energy problem in the next 15 years, the country will face a catastrophe," Hamaneh was quoted as saying at his farewell ceremony over the weekend.
