Tullow Makes Second Oil Discovery in Ghana

22 August 2007 11:50

UK-based company Tullow Oil has made a 'significant' oil discovery in the Hyedua-1 well in Deepwater Tano, Ghana.

The company says initial results of drilling, wireline logs and samples of reservoir fluid represent a single continuous trap extending across the West Cape Three Points and Deepwater Tano blocks.

The well is being drilled by the deepwater drillship the Belford Dolphin in water depths of 1,530m and to a total depth of 4,002m.

The company is planning to appraise the well and begin seismic surveys immediately.

In June, Tullow announced another oil discovery in Ghana likely to contain at least 300 to 400 million barrels of oil on the West Cape Three in the Mahogany-1 exploration well.
