Statoil Wins Bid in US Gulf23 August 2007 11:07 Norwegian oil company Statoil has been awarded 36 leases in the Alaminos Canyon and Keathley Canyon areas in the US Gulf of Mexico, where the company is expected to become sole operator of the deepwater region. A total of 47 companies participated in the lease sale of the 2500m blocks. Statoil's bids are subject to review and final approval by the New Orleans Minerals Management Service (MMS).
