CATS Pipeline to Re-Start This Week

30 August 2007 11:26

The CATS (Central Area Transmission System) pipeline will re-start this week after repair work by divers was completed ahead of schedule.

In a statement, BP said divers have completed the installation of a metal sleeve to the CATS North Sea gas system where a large vessel dragged its anchor causing damage to the pipeline earlier this year. A return to normal output levels is expected in mid-September.

The CATS pipeline is a 36" diameter gas pipeline transporting gas from fields in the central North Sea to terminals at Teesside in the UK. It is operated by BP and partners BG, Hess, ConocoPhillips, Eni and Total.
