Canadian oil and gas company Suncor Energy has announced that oil sands production at the end of September hit 282,000 barrels per day (bdp), with year-to-date oil sands production at 230,000 bpd.

The Alberta-based company is targeting average oil sands production of 255,000 bpd to 265,000 bpd in 2007.

Production volumes are to be confirmed when Suncor's third quarter results are released at the end of this month.

Earlier this week Suncor's upgrader system was damaged by a fire but the company expects to return to full output of about 260,000 bpd this weekend, according to Reuters.
