Aker Kvaerner Wins Petrobras Subsea Deal26 October 2007 12:12 Norwegian oil and gas technology manufacturer Aker Kvaerner has won a US$65m contract to supply subsea power cables to Brazilian oil and gas explorer Petrobras Americas. Aker Kvaerner will supply 230,000ft (70km) of high voltage power cables and static and dynamic steel tube umbilicals for use at the Cascade and Chinook subsea development fields – located in the Walker Ridge area in Gulf of Mexico. "Petrobras needs dynamic umbilicals that are highly flexible and have good mechanical characteristics that can withstand the environmental challenges in deep water Gulf of Mexico," says Aker Americas president Erik Wiik.
