ExxonMobil to Make Libyan Come Back

31 October 2007 12:16

US oil major ExxonMobil says it hopes to establish a "significant position" in Libya as it plans to return to the country after a period of political instability.

"We're back and we hope to establish a significant position there in the future," vice president of ExxonMobil's African operations Kevin Biddle told Reuters reporters at the Africa Upstream 2007 oil conference in Cape Town.

ExxonMobil aims to boost its African output by about 50 percent by the end of this decade.

Africa Upstream is the world's largest African oil and gas exploration and development event, bringing together large corporations and governments.
