Kazakhstan Oil Next Step for BG Group

UK-based energy group BG Group is in talks with the Kazakhstan's national oil company KazMunaiGas Exploration Production (KMG EP) over new joint ventures.

KMG EP, which has plans to expand rapidly in Kazakhstan, also wants to do deals with international oil companies to extend its reach outside the country, writes The Times.

The company has been pursuing numerous acquisitions, recently paying US$1bn for oil and gas company Kazger-munai, which produces 60,000 barrels of oil per day.
