Iraq to Build Largest Oil Refiney

28 November 2007 14:37

The Iraqi Government has approved plans to build an oil refinery with a capacity of 300,000 barrels a day in the southern city of Nasiriyah, Iraq's oil minister has announced.

The new refinery is expected to be the largest in the country and capable of meeting domestic consumption for several years, Hussein al-Shahristani has told reporters.

The country has struggled to meet fuel needs due to frequent attacks on oil installations.
