French Oil Refinery Workers Strike

19 December 2007 14:55

Workers at a French refinery run by oil giant Total have voted to extend a pay strike to four other refineries.

According to local reports, only the 119,000 bpd Feyzin refinery voted to restart work, following the start of the strike on Monday.

Total announced a pay rise package for next year to the striking workers but unions are not expected to agree to its terms.

The strike has helped push oil prices to above US$92 a barrel yesterday due to blocked or reduced supply.
