Iraqi Refinery Continues Production After Fire

08 January 2008 17:05

A fire at Iraq's largest oil refinery, which killed one employee and injured others, has not affected production, the Iraqi Oil Ministry has announced.

The fire started after an explosion in a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) unit on Monday.

The ministry says the refinery is back to normal and the fire has been extinguished.

A chief engineer was killed and many others were injured in the incident, local sources told Reuters.

Engineers are currently evaluating the extent of the damage caused by the fire.
