Subsea 7 Wins Petrobras Deepwater Deal

08 January 2008 16:40

Subsea engineering and construction company Subsea 7 has been awarded a US$50m contract by Petrobras America for installation works in the deepwater Cascade and Chinook fields in the Gulf of Mexico.

The contract includes engineering and installing 70km of power cables and control umbilicals in water depths ranging from 2,300m to 3,000m.

Subsea 7 will also fabricate and install 16 jumpers in the fields, located at Block 425 of the Walter Ridge area.

Work is expected to commence immediately with the offshore installation campaign to be carried out by one of Subsea 7's deepwater umbilical installation vessels at the end of 2009.

The Cascade and Chinook fields are being developed using a Floating Production Storage and Offloading Facility (FPSO) to be installed in 2010 – the first such development to be used in the American waters off the Gulf of Mexico.
