ExxonMobil Announces Kizomba C Production

10 January 2008 11:54

Oil major ExxonMobil subsidiary Esso Exploration Angola has begun production at the Kizomba C development, designed to develop 600 million barrels of oil.

Described by Exxon as a milestone in the "effort to increase world energy supplies" Kizomba C will develop oil from the Mondo, Saxi and Batuque fields in approximately 800m of water, 145km off the coast of Angola.

Exxon says Mondo production is anticipated to plateau at a peak rate of 100,000 barrels a day with plateau production from the other fields anticipated to reach a total of 200,000 barrels a day.

The Kizomba C development includes two floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessels and 36 subsea wells, the largest subsea development operated by ExxonMobil affiliates worldwide.

Exxon says the start-up of Kizomba C is an important step in its work to develop Angola's "significant petroleum resources".

Operator Esso Exploration has a 40 percent stake along with BP Exploration (Angola), ENI Angola Exploration and StatoilHydro Angola.
