08 February 2008 16:04

Norwegian manufacturer of dynamic positioning systems, Kongsberg Maritime, has been awarded a contract to provide subsea training simulator systems for the Frade Field development, offshore Brazil.

Kongsberg Process Simulation will use multiphase modelling technology for training, future planning and subsea production, says the company.

The development, located in the Campos Basin in water depths of 3,500ft, is approximately 75 miles northeast of Rio de Janeiro.

The field consists of horizontal production wells and vertical water injection wells to maintain reservoir pressure.

The Frade field is operated by Chevron through its affiliate, Chevron Brasil Limitada, and holds a 51.74 percent working interest.

Other partners include Petroleo Brasileiro SA, Petrobras and Frade Japao Petroleo Limitada.
