03 March 2008

Chevron has announced plans to begin developing a deepwater field discovered off the coast of Nigeria in 2002.

The Usan field, 62 miles offshore and more than 2,400ft deep, is expected to produce up to 180,000 barrels of oil per day.

Chevron expects to complete the installation of a floating production, storage and offloading vessel by 2011.
