TNK-BP in Russian Police Probe

19 March 2008 15:45

Russian police have raided the headquarters of BP's Russian arm TNK-BP as part of a long-running criminal investigation into the company.

Police have taken documents from the company as part of investigation relating to mid-sized oil firm Sidanco, part of TNK-BP, according to local news reports.

The probe is investigating a suspected small-scale fraud rather than anything political, industry sources have told Reuters.

In February, police raided the headquarters of Slavneft, co-owned by TNK-BP and Russian state-owned Gazprom, confiscating documents in a five-year-old tax evasion investigation.
