Cyclone Pancho Threatens Australian Oil Fields

26 March 2008 14:27

A category-three tropical cyclone which has formed off the northwest coast of Australia is threatening production at some offshore oil fields.

Cyclone Pancho is currently heading for the south or southwest but is unlikely to affect the Western Australian coastline in the next 48 hours, according to Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Oil companies operating projects in the region are keeping a close eye on the storm with no reported shutdowns as yet, writes Reuters.
