Gazprom and Eni to Share Libyan Oil Assets

03 April 2008 16:46

Russia's Gazprom looks set to secure energy assets in Libya alongside Italian oil company Eni, according to UK newspaper the Financial Times.

Eni has agreed to share assets with Gazprom "in a north African country, probably Libya", industry sources told the newspaper.

The move would give state-owned Gazprom entry to North African oil and gas fields, securing its stake in European markets.

Eni has not commented on the story.
