Maersk Oil Makes North Sea Discovery

16 April 2008 11:51

Maersk Oil has announced a hydrocarbons discovery in the Bo-3X exploration well on the Bo South prospect, located south of the Valdemar in the Danish part of the North Sea.

The Bo-3X well was spudded on 22 March 2008 and drilled to a total depth of 2,660m.

Based on the data gathered in the well, studies will be initiated to determine the hydrocarbons before development can be integrated, the company says.

"Drilling of the well was based on application of high-resolution 3D seismic data and innovative interpretation techniques," says Maersk Oil Senior Vice President Anders Würtzen.
