The Total-operated Jura gas field in the northern North Sea has come on stream, less than a year after development, the company has announced.
The field, which has proved and provable reserves of 170 million boe, lies in block 3/15, 440km (275 miles) northeast of Aberdeen in water depths of 113m.
Jura, which has cost around US$300m to develop, is expected to ramp up production to 6.5 million cubic metres of gas per day at plateau.
With 6,000 barrels per day of liquids also being produced, combined total production capacity is expected to reach around 50,000 boe per day, says the company.
Jura has been developed using two subsea wells connected via a new three kilometre tie-in to the Forvie North subsea manifold, from where gas is expected to flow through an existing pipeline to the Total-operated Alwyn North platform.
