Socar Sets Up Drilling Rigs in Caspian Sea

State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (Socar) has set up three deepwater wells at offshore fields near the municipality of Sahil in the Caspian Sea.

Exploratory drilling of the first well at the Umid gas field in the Azerbaijani section of the Caspian Sea is being carried out. The project depth of the well is 6,500m.

The gas reserves from the Umid field are estimated at 300 billion cubic metres and anticipated gas condensate reserves are estimated at 30-40 million tonnes, today.az reports.

A rig at the offshore Bulla-Deniz gas field is scheduled to drill to a depth of nearly 21,000ft while another at the 8 March field has reached a depth of 19,357ft with yields expected to reach 14.8 million cubic feet of gas per day, upi.com reports.
