Aker Misses Out on Goliat Deal

08 February 2010

Norway's Aker Solutions said today it is no longer in the running for a contract to supply an FPSO vessel for Eni's Goliat project, offshore Norway.

The company had teamed up with South Korea's Samsung Heavy Industries to deliver the cylindrical floater designed by Sevan Marine, but in a statement issued today, Aker said Eni had cancelled the deal.

"We are naturally disappointed, but our focus now is on winning other newbuild projects and securing our offshore competence in a challenging market," said Jannik Lindbæk, Aker Solutions senior vice president for corporate communication.
