Cairn Energy said it will continue drilling operations on its five-well exploration campaign offshore Greenland until the end of November.

This will allow the company to complete drilling activities on the last two wells in the Atammik block.

The Leiv Eiriksson rig is drilling the AT7-1 well in the Atammik block, offshore Nuuk, and has encountered a 113m gross interval with 50m of reservoir-quality sands of Cretaceous age.

The company is planning a cased hole modular dynamic tester programme to recover fluid samples.

The Ocean Rig Corcovado is currently operating on the AT2-1 well located in the South Ungava Area.

The well reached a total depth of 4,847m in Cretaceous sediments and has encountered minor hydrocarbon shows.
