Eni is to explore the North Ganal block in Kutei Basin, offshore East Kalimantan, Indonesia, in consortium with Niko Resources, Black Platinum Energy, Statoil and GDF SUEZ.
The block covers a 2,432km2 area in the Kutei Basin, a prolific hydrocarbon province with several discoveries already in production.
The deal involves carrying out a 200km 2D seismic survey and drilling one exploratory well in the first three years.
Eni will be the operator of the new North Ganal production sharing contract, which will be signed by the end of 2011.
