Exoma Energy has spudded its sixth well, Prairie-1, during its exploration campaign in Queensland, Australia.
The well, which is located in Galilee Basin, 90km north of Longreach, is the first one in the firm's ATP 996P permit area.
Exoma said the Prairie-1 well will target coal bed methane in the Permian Betts Creek and the Aramac coal measures.
The well will be drilled to a total depth of 1,430m, with coal measures to be cored for desorption testing and selected coal intervals to be drillstem tested to measure permeability.
Exoma holds a 50% stake in permit areas ATP 996P and Prairie-1.
