IMES Group has announced the launch of a new business targeted at the oil and gas and commercial marine industries and designed to improve offshore safety.
The new Marine Safety Systems (MSS) division was previously located at the company’s Bridge of Don headquarters.

By 2015-end, IMES plans to move the division to a facility located in the north-east.
IMES Group executive chairman Rod Buchan said: "We feel there is a real gap in the market for the kind of service offered by the new Marine Safety Systems division and have already received a positive response from prospective clients.
"We see moving into the marine safety systems area as a natural fit given the extensive subsea and marine knowledge possessed by our team, as well as the company’s range of industry-recognised accreditations."

The services offered by the division range from initial design through to lifetime support including package of safety equipment services such as lifeboats, davits, winches, release hook systems and fast rescue craft.

By GlobalDataManufactured and built in compliance with the European Marine Directive, the equipments are also in compliance with the latest Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) and Life-saving Appliances (LSA) regulations.
Along with lifeboat and davit inspection and testing, multi-skilled technicians will also be provided by MSS to complete annual lifting equipment inspection.
MSS business new operations director Colin Cunningham said: "The launch of MSS will bring significant cost savings to businesses across the oil and gas and commercial marine industries. as well as an increased level of technical assurance.
"While our primary focus is the oil and gas and commercial marine industries in and around Aberdeen, I see real potential for this service to take-off in other parts of the country, particularly around IMES’s existing UK operational locations."
