Survey

Australian company Searcher Seismic has completed the Silver-Eye 3D seismic survey in the Hammerfest Basin, Norwegian Barents Sea.

Consisting of 3,000km², the seismic survey covered the north and south flanks in the Hammerfest Basin.

Areas close to the Snøhvit and Goliat field and over the Snøhvit Beta and Tornerose Discoveries were covered as part of the survey.

According to Searcher Seismic, DownUnder GeoSolutions is processing the acquired 3D data with high quality broadband sequences.

The company said that additional improvement of data is expected with optimal broadband processing.

"The preliminary data is of excellent quality and significant additional improvement is expected with optimal broadband processing."

Searcher Seismic Norway country manager Jan Gunnar Opsal said the survey substantially expands 3D coverage of the Hammerfest Basin.

Opsal said: "So far, the preliminary data is of excellent quality and significant additional improvement is expected with optimal broadband processing."

The company expects to provide the final data for interpretation and evaluation in March 2016.

Designed to expand 3D coverage of the Hammerfest Basin, the survey further aims to highlight the potential of the area.

In July, the company partnered with Mage for the Echidna Regional Broadband 2D seismic survey offshore Ireland.

Covering the Porcupine and Slyne basins, as well as Goban Spur, the survey included well-tie to more than 30 exploration wells.
