Croatia Survey

Seismic service provider Spectrum has announced the successful completion of its multi-client 2D seismic acquisition survey offshore Croatia.

According to the company, the new survey provides about 15,000km of long-offset 2D data and covers the majority of offshore Croatia using a 5km x 5km grid.

Connecting to Spectrum’s reprocessed Italian Adriatic seismic data, the survey provides scope for basin-wide evaluation and comparisons with analogous producing oil and gas fields in the neighbouring Italian Adriatic.

Beginning in September 2013, the seismic acquisition was completed on 19 January, while the final processed products will be available by April.

Spectrum noted that the seismic acquisition is a precursor to the offshore licensing round that Croatia plans to hold this year.

Spectrum president and CEO Rune Eng said: "Early results from processed data already indicate new, untested hydrocarbon systems and plays."

"Spectrum said that the seismic acquisition is a precursor to the offshore licensing round that Croatia plans to hold this year."

Following his visit to the seismic survey vessel in Split, Croatia’s Minister of Economy Ivan Vrdoljak said Spectrum’s work has provided them with new modern seismic data to attract oil and gas companies.

"The newly acquired seismic data will be essential to understand the full hydrocarbon potential of the Croatian Adriatic. Interested oil companies will use the data to efficiently and effectively evaluate hydrocarbon prospects ahead of Croatia’s public call for tenders," said Vrdoljak.

The company has made the new multi-client seismic data available for licensing.
