TAQA has re-awarded two five-year contracts to Sparrows Group for the provision of crane operations, maintenance, rigging loft and fixed-lifting inspection services to its assets in the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).

The first contract will see Sparrows offer crane operations and maintenance services to cover all mechanical, HVAC, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation and structural requirements.

It will also require the company to provide inspection, engineering and technical support for all aspects of mechanical handling equipment.

"Having worked with TAQA for more than six years, we have a great deal of knowledge of the cranes and associated equipment across its assets."

The scope of the contract includes crane upgrade projects, structural analysis of crane booms and the re-engineering of obsolete components, as well as assembly, modification and improvement schemes.

Sparrows Group CEO Stewart Mitchell said: “Having worked with TAQA for more than six years, we have a great deal of knowledge of the cranes and associated equipment across its assets.”

The second contract will see Sparrows supply rigging lofts and fixed-lifting inspection services.
