Asia dominates global bisphenol A capacity additions by 2025

Global Bisphenol A capacity is expected to see a total growth of 25% by 2025, with Asia leading in capacity additions in the coming years.

Global Bisphenol A capacity is poised to see considerable growth over the next five years, potentially increasing from 7.72Mtpa in 2020 to 9.92Mtpa in 2025, registering total growth of 29%.

GlobalData’s latest report, ‘Global Bisphenol A Industry Outlook to 2025 – Capacity and Capital Expenditure Forecasts with Details of All Active and Planned plants,’ states that around ten planned and announced plants are slated to come online primarily in Asia and the Former Soviet Union (FSU).

Within Asia, China has five planned Bisphenol A projects, with a total capacity of about 1.15Mtpa by 2025. The country is expected to spend a capital expenditure (CAPEX) of $0.62bn. Major capacity additions will be from a planned project, Hainan Huasheng New Material Technology Company Dongfang Bisphenol A Plant 1.

In FSU, Russia has one announced project with the capacity additions of about 0.12Mtpa. The country is expected to spend a total of $0.13bn. Total capacity addition is from the Omsky Kauchuk Omsk Bisphenol A Plant.

Reliance Industries Ltd, Jiangsu Ruisheng New Material Technology Co Ltd and Hainan Huasheng New Material Technology Co Ltd will be the top three companies globally in terms of planned and announced capacity additions over the upcoming years.
