Asia to lead global Bisphenol A capacity additions by 2024

The global Bisphenol A capacity is poised to see considerable growth over the next five years, potentially increasing from 7.60Mtpa in 2019 to 8.89Mtpa in 2024, registering total growth of 17%.

GlobalData’s latest report, ‘Global Bisphenol A Industry Outlook to 2024 – Capacity and Capital Expenditure Forecasts with Details of All Active and Planned Plants’ states that around seven planned and announced plants are slated to come online primarily in Asia and the Former Soviet Union.

Within Asia, China has four planned and announced Bisphenol A plants, with a total capacity of about 0.91Mtpa by 2024. The country is expected to spend a capital expenditure (capex) of $0.70bn. Major capacity additions will be from Hainan Huasheng New Material Technology Co Ltd and Jiangsu Ruisheng New Material Technology Co Ltd.

Former Soviet Union has only one announced plant in Russia with capacity of 0.12Mtpa by 2024. The capex for the plant is $0.14bn by 2024. Titan Group of Companies is the only company accounting for the entire capacity additions in Russia.

Hainan Huasheng New Material Technology Co Ltd, Jiangsu Ruisheng New Material Technology Co Ltd and Huayi International Industry Group Ltd are the top three companies by planned and announced capacity additions globally over the upcoming years.
