Europe continues to lead global hydrogen pipeline additions by 2027, followed by the Middle East, Oceania, and Asia. However, the majority of these upcoming projects are still undergoing conceptual studies and are yet to receive development approvals.
Europe dominates global planned and announced hydrogen pipeline length additions with 2,540km of pipeline length expected to be added from 2023 to 2027. Most of these upcoming hydrogen pipeline additions are concentrated in Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, and Italy.
In the Middle East, the entire length addition comes from Oman’s announced South to North Oman hydrogen pipeline. In Asia, China accounts for the entire hydrogen pipeline length additions through three proposed Hydrogen pipelines – Ulanqab Beijing, Shandong Hydrogen, and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region Hydrogen.
Among announced and planned (new build) hydrogen pipelines expected to start operations by 2027, South to North Oman in Oman leads globally with the longest pipeline length of 1,000km, followed by the Holstebro-Hamburg pipeline in Germany with a length of 450km.
