
The latest analytical report from Global Data, ‘Q4 2018 Global FPSO Industry Outlook – South America and Africa Continue to Lead Global Planned FPSO Deployments’ suggests that a total of 71 planned and announced floating production, storage, and offloading units (FPSOs) are expected to start operations globally by 2025. Among regions, South America leads globally with 31 planned and announced FPSO additions by 2025, followed by Africa and Europe with 16 and seven FPSOs, respectively.
Globally among countries, Brazil continues to lead with 24 planned and announced FPSOs by 2025, followed by Australia, Angola and Nigeria with five FPSOs each. Among operators, Petroleo Brasileiro SA leads with 21 planned and announced FPSOs, Modec Inc, Premier Oil Plc, and Equinor ASA with three FPSOs each by 2025.
Planned FPSO deployments across continents
In South America, Brazil has 24 planned and announced FPSOs, followed by the Falkland Islands and Guyana with four and three FPSOs, respectively. In the African region, 16 planned and announced FPSOs are expected to come online by 2025. Nigeria and Angola both have the highest number of FPSOs expected to start operations in the region with five.
In Europe, Norway has four FPSOs, followed by the UK with three FPSOs. In Oceania, Australia is expected to witness the start of operations of five planned and announced FPSO by 2025. In North America, Mexico has three announced FPSOs, while the US and Canada have one announced FPSO each.
In Asia, four planned and announced FPSOs are expected to start operations by 2025. India leads with two FPSOs, followed by Indonesia and China with one FPSO each. Israel is the only country in the Middle East region with one planned FPSO.
