Sea Surveillance has developed the world’s biggest one-piece Ex(p) radar dome for Noble Energy.

With its operations beginning in 2005, Sea Surveillance AS is a Bergen-based company that specialises in maritime safety integrated monitoring solutions and ATEX radar systems.

Among its customers are Equinor, ABB, Exxon Mobil, Eni and Petronas.

Sea Surveillance is the biggest supplier of ATEX radar systems in the North Sea and was the first company to produce ATEX radar Domes in Norway. Its Radar Domes have a patented air system.

A unique 6.1m diameter ATEX radar dome has been developed to be used at the Leviathan oil platform owned by Noble Energy. This was a challenging engineering task due to the size and weight of the Radar Dome.

The order from Noble Energy included 3 Radar Domes Ex(p) with an 18ft Terma Radar antenna. On 21 February 2019, Bergen passed its factory acceptance test (FAT).
