GE Inspection Technologies Non-Destructive Testing Solutions

GE Inspection Technologies

A division of General Electric (GE) Measurement & Control Solutions, GE’s Inspection Technologies provides a full suite of non-destructive testing (NDT) solutions, including radiography, computed tomography, remote visual inspection, ultrasound, electromagnetic, hardness testing and metrology.

Combined with our Rhythm® software platform, GE is the ultimate provider of productivity solutions, which generate accurate and reliable inspection data.

Electromagnetic, ultrasonic and remote visual non-destructive testing

GE Inspection Technologies offers various non-destructive testing methods, such as:

  • Electromagnetic

GE supplies a complete range of instruments, testing machines and probes for industrial applications that require surface and sub-surface crack detection and metal sorting. Our non-destructive testing equipment and solutions deliver productivity and quality, as well as meeting the critical requirements of the client’s application.

  • Radiography

Radiography is widely regarded as one of the most reliable and proven non-destructive testing methods in the industry. Various types of industrial radiographic equipment and techniques are available from GE, ranging from film radiography, portable and stationary X-ray sources, digital technologies, integrated inline systems, 3D computed tomography (CT), metrology solutions and analytical X-ray diffraction systems.

Working together with our clients, GE identifies the best solution to ensure optimum technique performance, speed and economy for their applications.

  • Ultrasonic

GE’s Inspection Technologies is the world’s leading developer of ultrasonic testing (UT) equipment, testing machines, transducers and software for industrial applications that require internal defect detection and sizing.

Our non-destructive ultrasonic testing solutions meet the critical requirements of our clients’ application, as well as deliver high levels of productivity and quality.

  • Remote visual

GE Inspection Technologies offers a selection of remote viewing equipment, from basic borescopes and fibrescopes to measurement-capable digital video borescopes, pan-tilt-zoom camera systems and robotic crawler systems.

Our systems are portable and ruggedly built to survive industrial environments.

Equipment diagnostics for welds, corrosion and composites

GE Inspection Technologies’ applications cover a wide range of industries, such as:

  • Aerospace
  • Metals and castings
  • Oil and gas
  • Power generation
  • Transportation

Our diagnostic applications are suitable for inspecting the following components and equipment:

  • Welds

GE provides conventional and phased-array UT equipment, including testing machines, film and digital radiography, eddy current and remote visual technologies for new build, in-service or life extension engineering of welds.

  • Corrosion

GE supplies simple hand-held digital UT thickness gauges, digital and phased-array UT flaw detectors and X-ray products for sizing, corrosion and erosion detection.

Our Rightrax monitoring system can be permanently installed at areas likely to be problematic to alert clients to an issue before a failure occurs.

  • Rotating equipment

We have the broadest selection of NDT modalities available on the market, including eddy current arrays, 3D volumetric CT, compressors, pumps, electrical generators and advanced menu-directed remote visual inspection (RVI) and Rhythm software for inspection data trending and archiving of gas and steam turbines.

  • Heat exchanger

Nuclear steam generators, condensers, feed water heaters, air-conditioning chillers and additional balance-of-plant heat exchangers experience degradation from long-term use.

GE Inspection Technologies diagnoses any heat exchanger problem with its wide inspection capabilities.

  • Composites

Whether it is for airframe components on military or commercial aircraft, large rotating blades on aircraft engines and windmills or piping systems, GE has developed significant expertise in enhancing the inspection process with composite materials.

Software for NDT applications

GE Inspection Technologies provides advanced and user-friendly software that improves productivity by enabling clients to make smarter and quicker decisions in the field and office.

We offer software for all NDT applications and testing methods, including data input, analysis, image review, reporting, data management, remote collaboration and storage.
