Penguin International is an integrated global marine and offshore services company based in Singapore. We specialise in the construction, operation and management of commercial and offshore vessels, including fast supply intervention vessels (FSIV), crewboats, anchor handling towing / supply (AHTS) vessels, passenger ferries and general workboats.
Through our wholly owned operating companies we own and operate a fleet of 49 vessels, including crew boats, FSIV, AHTS vessels, passenger ferries, landing craft, and tugs and barges.
Shipbuilding and repair services
Penguin Shipyard International (PSI) builds and repairs high-speed commercial vessels, including passenger ferries, FSIV, crewboats, cargo vessels and patrol craft. We have been building aluminium vessels since 1995; to date we have built more than 50 vessels for our own use and for third-party ship owners. We have also started to build steel vessels for established ship owners.
PSI operates a 12,000m² shipyard in Singapore with a 500t straddle carrier, and a 45,000m² shipyard on the Indonesian island of Batam with a 250t straddle carrier.
By investing in modern equipment, processes and personnel we aim to become Asia’s premier builder of high-speed offshore and commercial vessels.
Offshore vessel charter services
Pelican Offshore Services (POS) owns and operates a fleet of offshore vessels, including crewboats, FSIV and AHTS vessels. POS was established in 1997 as an owner-operator of FSIV to provide high-speed transportation of crew and cargo for the offshore oil and gas industry in South-East Asia.
Today, POS owns a fleet of FSIV and AHTS vessels that operate throughout the region, supporting clients such as Chevron, CNOOC, Shell, Exxon and Korea National Oil Corp.
POS has worked closely with PSI in recent times to develop a successful 36m FSIV design that other FSIV operators are now ordering for their own use in the Middle East and South-East Asia.
South-East Asian ferry services
Reputed for its focus on passenger safety, comfort and punctuality, Penguin Ferry Services (PFS) operates a fleet of modern, high-speed ferries that are on ticketing runs and time charters around South-East Asia. As the ferry operator of choice among Singapore’s corporate and government travellers, we transport almost 10,000 passengers per day, and we pride ourselves on our professionalism, dedication and commitment to international health, safety and environment standards.
In the Middle East we have a joint venture (PMBS) operating about 20 vessels, which also manages the Dubai Creek Waterbus and water taxis.
Third-party ship management services
The business of operating a fleet of high-performance ferries must be supported by a dedicated team of ship management professionals with specialised skill sets. With more than 30 years of experience in the ferry trade, Penguin Ship Management (PSM) is well-placed to offer third-party ship management and operations services to other ferry owners.
With an in-house technical team and a well-equipped workshop in Singapore, as well as access to Penguin’s own shipyards, PSM is capable of undertaking a variety of repair and maintenance activities, including main engine overhauls, major dockings and emergency on-site repairs.
Port Meridian deepwater port is a proposed LNG project consisting of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU), a subsea pipeline, and onshore facilities that will connect to the national grid at Barrow-in-Furness, UK.
