South & Central America witnessed a 2.0% drop in IT hiring activity in the oil & gas industry in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
August 2021 has seen a decrease of 4.93% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 14.5% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering a decrease of 1.05% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 64.67% in August 2021, a 14.12% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 14% in August 2021, marking a 16% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 10% in August 2021, a 16.67% drop from July 2021.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 6% in August 2021, an 18.18% decline over the previous month.
Top five oil & gas companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 9.38% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s oil & gas industry during August 2021 over previous month.
Exxon Mobil posted 126 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 3.28% over the previous month, followed by Baker Hughes Holdings with 5 jobs and a 400% growth. Halliburton with 4 IT jobs and Ecopetrol with 3 jobs, recorded a 300% rise and a 50% rise, respectively, while Irving Oil recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during August 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s oil & gas industry
Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s oil & gas industry IT hiring activity with a 58.67% share in August 2021, a 9.28% decrease over July 2021. Argentina featured next with a 30.67% share, up 6.98% over the previous month. Colombia recorded a 5.33% share, a growth of 166.67% compared with July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 87.33%, up by 2.34% from July 2021. Entry Level positions with a 6.67% share, registered a flat growth compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 6% share, down 50% over July 2021.
