The top five companies accounted for 8% of patenting activity
Analysis of patenting activity by companies shows that BASF filed the most renewable energy patents within the oil & gas industry in Q1 2024. The company filed 41 renewable energy-related patents in the quarter, compared with 15 in the previous quarter. It was followed by Fuji Oil with 37 renewable energy patent filings, Air Liquide (34 filings), and Chinese Academy of Sciences (33 filings) in Q1 2024.
